Remote Team Workload Heatmap
See, hour by hour, where the team is overloaded and where capacity is sitting idle.
Overload hours
Idle hours
What makes this different
The overload / idle split is the differentiator. Most "team timezone" pages show the same kind of overlap grid; this one explicitly highlights the hours that are too quiet or too loud.
How to use it
- Add team members with city and working hours.
- Read the heatmap. Darker cells = more team members in working hours.
- The "overload" panel flags UTC hours where more than half the team is simultaneously online.
- The "idle" panel flags UTC hours where no team member is online.
When a team is distributed, the question "who is overloaded?" is harder than it looks: someone in Tokyo can be silent during your day but burning out overnight. This tool draws each team member's working hours as a coloured band on a single 24-hour timeline, and surfaces overlap (overload) and isolated (idle) windows.
Frequently asked questions
How do you define overload?
More than half of the team in working hours at the same UTC instant. Adjust the threshold in your head — this is a soft signal.
Is idle always bad?
No. Some idle hours are fine (everyone asleep). The tool flags them so you can plan asynchronous handoffs for those hours.
Can I export the heatmap?
Not in this version. Take a screenshot or copy the underlying times from the heatmap tooltip.
